Woodward’s “Bombshell” Trump Comments…Were Already Public

(PatriotHeadline.com)- Bob Woodward, the well-known journalist and author who did a series of on-the-record interviews with President Donald Trump earlier this year, recently released recordings of a conversation in which the president said he wanted to play down the pandemic in the early days to avoid a panic. The comments have been used by Democrats and the left-wing media as evidence President Trump “lied” about the virus, but the truth is much more mundane.

President Trump said in public precisely what he said to Bob Woodward in private, and the evidence is overwhelming.

The “bombshell” recording was described as “even more devastating than Nixon’s tapes” on CNN by Carl Bernstein, which is…well, it’s exactly what you would expect from the propaganda network.

The New York Times claimed Trump called the virus “deadly” in private while “minimizing its risk in public,” and various other outlets called it a “bombshell” and suggested this was hugely damaging for President Trump.

But even a cursory Google search proves this wrong, given that President Trump made precisely the same comments in public in March and April before the severity of the virus was fully understood.

During a White House press briefing on April 1, President Trump said that he knew the virus “could be horrible” but that “I don’t want to be a negative person.”

“It’d be so much easier for me to come up and say, ‘We have bad news. We’re going to lose 220,000 people, and it’s going to happen over the next few weeks,’” he added.

“Somebody said, ‘Oh, I wish he’d be more negative’… Well, this is really easy to be negative about,” President Trump said during the same press briefing. “But I want to give people hope too. You know, I’m a cheerleader for our country. We’re going through the worst thing that the country has probably ever seen.”

Which is what he told Woodward in private.

And, as The Daily Wire reports, President Trump also said on March 30, “I want to keep the country calm. I don’t want to panic the country.”

President Donald Trump repeatedly downplayed the virus but told the public what he was doing at the same time.

There are two questions here…what game is Woodward playing here? And why did anybody let President Trump talk to Woodward in the first place?
