(PatriotHeadline.Com)- If you thought things were tough in America right now, then think of the people of the Philippines. On Wednesday, the country’s leader, President Rodrigo Duterto, issues an official “shoot to kill” order. The president ordered police officers to murder anybody disobeying orders to stay at home while the coronavirus sweeps the country.
In the video footage, the president can be seen stood behind a podium wearing an informal polo shirt, telling his officers “shoot them dead.”
The footage, in which the president reminded people to stay indoors and obey the country’s strict lockdown orders, was aired on national television.
“I will not hesitate,” Duterto said. “My orders are to the police and military, also the barangay [district officials], that if there is trouble or the situation arises that people fight and your lives are on the line, shoot them dead.”
President Duterto was deadly serious and doubled down with his comments.
“Do you understand? Dead. Instead of causing trouble, I’ll send you to the grave.”
Duterto even made some comments in English reminding those who wish to break that rules that “you are not the government.”
The address was aired on national television after a large group of people in Quezon City took to the streets and made demands of the government. Quezon City is currently on lockdown and the protesters were quickly dispersed by the police. More than 21 people were arrested at the scene.
Protests were reportedly instigated by the left-wing Kadamay protest group. Police also claim the group spread false information in an attempt to rally people against the government. Members of the group dispute the claim, however, saying that the action was taken as a result of hunger because of a delay in the delivery of government food supplies.
“Do not intimidate government. Do not challenge government,” Dutante reminded the protesters. “Just wait for the delivery even if it’s delayed, it will arrive and you will not go hungry. You will not die of hunger,” he added.
Meanwhile, the United States government continues to place its faith in the American people to do the right thing and maintain the social distancing program.
President Donald Trump recently decided to extend the “15 Days to Slow the Spread” program by a further 30 days, encouraging people to avoid social situations with those they don’t share a home with and to work from home where possible.
