Music Legend Nick Cave SLAMS Cancel Culture and Political Correctness as “Unhappiest Religion”

( Nick Cave, the Australian rocker known for his band The Bad Seeds and long-time collaborations with legends like Marianne Faithfull, surprised his supporters and the media recently by slamming cancel culture and political correctness.

In a post on his official website, Cave claimed that political correctness has now become the “unhappiest religion in the world.”

It came in response to a question from one of his fans about cancel culture. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, cancel culture is the way in which far-left activists will go out of their way to get someone fired or destroy their reputation if they express views that aren’t considered “politically correct.” It is used and encouraged by people on social media, by corporate executives, by Hollywood stars, and basically anybody else in a position of power. Except for the president, of course.

“Tolerance allows the spirit of enquiry the confident to roam freely, to make mistakes, to self-correct, to be bold, to dare to doubt and in the process to chance upon new and more advanced ideas,” he said. “Without mercy society grows inflexible, fearful, vindictive and humourless.”

It’s a well-thought-out answer that is perfectly polite, but you just know that leftists are going to hate it, right?

Cave then said that “political correctness has grown to become the unhappiest religion in the world” after once being an “honourable attempt to reimagine our society in a more equitable way.”

He said that political correctness, now, “embodies all the worst aspects that religion has to offer (and none of the beauty.)

“It has become quite literally, bad religion run amuck,” he said.

The fact that rockers, singers, and other celebrities are all coming forward and denouncing cancel culture is significant. Morrissey, of The Smiths fame, has already faced public scrutiny for supporting a populist British political party known as “For Britain.” Comedian Ricky Gervais recently slammed cancel culture in an interview with The Metro. And now, Nick Cave is refusing to back down too.

“We are a culture in transition, and it may be that we are heading toward a more equal society – I don’t know – but what essential values will we forfeit in the process?” Cave asked.

The more celebrities get on board with this, the better chance we have of stopping SJWs in their tracks. This is great news!
