(PatriotHeadline.com)- Former football player Herschel Walker addressed the Republican National Convention during its first night on Monday, slamming the Democrats and defending President Donald Trump against fake charges of “racism.”
The sporting legend, who won the All-American honors three times, politely addressed the claims by Democrats that the president is racist by recalling his 37-year friendship with him. He explained the pain he feels being told that he has spent almost four decades in a close friendship with a “racist.”
Football star Herschel Walker, who has been friends with Trump for 37 years: “Just because someone loves and respects the flag … doesn’t mean that they don’t care about social justice. I care about all of those things and so does Donald Trump.” https://t.co/N38rL2SuxY #RNC2020 pic.twitter.com/B5D3C16RXc

“It hurts my soul to hear the terrible names that people call Donald,” he said. “The worst one is ‘racist.’ I take it as a personal insult that people would think I would have a 37-year friendship with a racist.”
Walker introduced himself as a football player, but said he is also “a father, a man of faith, and a very good judge of character.” He described how he has known President Trump for 37 years and that it wasn’t a casual relationship that meant they occasionally saw one another, but “deep personal friendship.”

He recalled a time when Trump owned the New Jersey Generals, a football team. He described how as soon as Trump bought the team he set out to learn the history of the team, the players, the coaches, and every single detail.
“Then he used what he learned to make the team better,” he said. “I watched him in the board room. He could be in the middle of a big meeting, but if one of his kids was on the phone, he dropped everything to take the call. He taught me that family should be your top priority.”
Walker described how Trump would treat security guards, waiters, and janitors in the same way he would treat BIPS, and told Walker that it is important to remember the names of everyone you meet.
The speech is incredibly moving and does a lot to dispel myths about the president. But you can expect that the Democrats will completely ignore it.
