(PatriotHeadline.com)- Buckingham Palace confirmed this week that Prince Harry and his wife, American TV actress Meghan Markle, will not be returning to the Royal Family.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II confirmed that the pair will remain “much loved members of the family,” but that as private citizens living in the United States they could not “continue with the responsibilities that come with a life of public service.”
In response, the couple said that “service is universal” and said that they will continue to offer support to organizations they previously represented after the Queen stripped them both of their official royal patronages.
It comes after the couple announced in January 2020 that they would be stepping back from their roles as “senior” members of the royal family, and intended to become financially independent. Since then, the pair have done multiple high-profile interviews – most recently with legendary TV host Oprah Winfrey – and even signed multi-million dollar deals with streaming platforms like Netflix.
Following their departure, the Queen confirmed that they would review their situation after one year, and following that review, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex would lose their honorary military appointments and Royal patronages.
“The honorary military appointments and Royal patronages held by The Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among working members of the Royal Family,” the Palace statement revealed.
In their own statement, the Duke and Duchess said that they remain committed to their duty and service to the United Kingdom, and have “offered their continued support to the organisations that they have represented regardless of official role.”
In a shocking and underhanded attack directed to the Queen, the statement added, “We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
But Royal patronages are not…
Prince Harry will lose his patronages to Dolen Cymru, a Welsh charity that helps young people, African Parks, a charity that manages 16 national parks, and the Invictus Games, an annual sporting event and foundation that works with wounded and injured servicemen and women.
Phil Dampier, the author of “Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words,” told the media that the Queen generously refrained from stripping the pair of their royal titles, but didn’t receive anything in return.
“The tone of Harry and Meghan’s press release is quite pointed,” he revealed. “by saying ‘we can all live a life of service – service is universal,’ they are belittling the work of the Queen and the rest of the royal family.”
Meghan Markle wanted to be a princess…but didn’t want any of the responsibility.
Well, now she doesn’t have any!
