ERASING HISTORY: Pelosi Calls to TEAR DOWN Confederate Statues on Capitol Hill

(PatriotHeadline.com)- Anti-Trump House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent a letter on Wednesday to the leaders of the Joint Committee on the Library recommending that Confederate statues on Capitol Hill be torn down. Pelosi made the suggestion after statues of Confederate figures, or anyone loosely connected to the slave trade, were torn down by violent Antifa/BLM protesters across the United States…and even the United Kingdom.

Pelosi said the 11 statues of Confederate officials and soldiers dotted around the U.S. Capitol should be removed. This would include statues of Vice President Alexander Stephens and President Jefferson Davis. While both men were charged with treason, they are a fixture in American history and statues are designed to represent those fixtures.

Pelosi, kowtowing to the demand of extremists who want to erase American history, told Committee Chair Roy Blunt, a Republican, that the Capitol should embody America’s highest ideals.

“As I have said before, the halls of Congress are the very heart of our democracy,” she said. “The statues in the Capitol should embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation.”

That’s a poetic way of saying “the mobs are burning down cities and I want to appease them.”

“Monuments to men who advocated cruelty and barbarism to achieve such a plainly racist end are a grotesque affront to these ideals,” she added. “Their statues pay homage to hate, not heritage. They must be removed.”

Oh, Pelosi said they must be removed, so that’s that I suppose!

Top Republican congressman were skeptical of the demands put forward by Pelosi, though…and who wouldn’t be? Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Thursday that the issue of removing statues should be left to the states owing to the fact that each state is allowed to choose which statues are erected at the Capitol.

“Every state is allowed two statues, they can trade them out at any time,” he said. “I think that’s the appropriate way to deal with the statue issue.”

That’s the reasonable way to look at it, sure, but Pelosi and the Democrats aren’t exactly behaving reasonably lately.
