Biden Thinks We’ll Believe His Son Got Ukraine Gig Because He’s a “Very Bright Guy”

( – Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden wants us to believe that his son, HunterBiden, landed his lucrative job as a board member of Ukranian energy firm Burismabecause he’s a…”very bright guy.”

In an interview with Savannah Guthrie for NBC, Biden was visibly angry at being asked whether his son may have been hired because Ukranian energy officials wanted accessto the Vice President of the United States. At the time of Hunter Biden’s hiring, his fatherwas still serving as VP under President Barack Obama.

Guthrie asked, “Do you think it was wrong for [Hunter] to take that position knowing that it was really because the company wanted access to you?”

Biden, looking visibly irate, snapped back, “Well that’s not true. You’re saying things you do not know what you’re talking about”–a response he’s used previously, and is likely to continue to use. However this time, Biden went as far as offering an alternative explanation for why his son, who had no experience in the energy sector, got the job.

The former Vice President explained that Hunter simply got the job because he’s a “very bright guy.”

I guess that explains it, then!

During his time on the board of Burisma, one of the largest natural gas companies in Ukraine, Hunter Biden was listed as a non-executive director and received more than$3.15 millionfor his “consulting services.”Media outlets have reported that he earned as much as $50,000 per month, with New York Times journalist Kenneth Vogal writing:

“Hunter Biden was a Yale-educated lawyer who had served on the boards of Amtrak and a number of nonprofit organizations and think tanks, but lacked any experience in Ukraine and just months earlier had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine.”

Interviews with several executives and former prosecutors from Ukraine suggest that Hunter Biden offered advice on corporate finance, strategy, and even legal issues. However, there is no evidence that Biden ever even visited the country during the time or had any knowledge of the energy industry there.

Burisma has been no stranger to controversy in the past. A number of criminal investigations into the company’s owner, Myjola Zlochevsky, have taken place over the years as a result of suspected money laundering and tax violations.
The story has remained in the headlines as the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination heats up, and President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani suggested that Joe Biden may have encouraged the firing of Ukraine’s top prosecutor to save his son. However, Hunter Biden and his lawyer George Mesires have denied any wrongdoing during his time at the company.

As Biden continues his fight for the nomination, expect more questions (and angry responses!) about his son and his involvement in Ukraine.
